Religious School

The religious school at JFC is unrivaled for its personalized attention to each student and his/her individual needs. Our
mission is to make certain that we engender in our students a feeling of love, pride and respect for their heritage. An education here is a meaningful one. We want students to be lifelong participants and JFC and share our desire to live a Jewish life with all of its wonders. A Hebrew and culture curriculum is provided for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

See our Religious School Page.

Weekly Children's Services

In addition to classroom lessons, all students participate in weekly children's services led by Rabbi Freedman, concluding with "Ask the Rabbi," a student-rabbi question and answer period. Once a year, each grade plays a role in a Friday evening service, preceded by its own potluck dinner.

Holidays

Jewish holidays are thoroughly explored in the earliest grades. Discussions and celebrations of the Jewish holidays are incorporated at all grade levels.

Hebrew

Hebrew is an integral part of all programs beginning with kindergarten.

Tzedakah

Students are encouraged to contribute weekly to a Tzedakah fund, which each class decides how they want to distribute. Class Tzedakah projects teach students a sense of social awareness and responsibility.

B'nai Mitzvah Preparation

Students are prepared for Bar or Bat Mitzvah with Torah study, individual tutoring, one-on-one study with the rabbi, and attendance at worship services. The class also participates in special Mitzvah projects.

Confirmation

Confirmation students meet with the rabbi to explore contemporary issues and current events from a Jewish perspective. Independent study opportunities are also available.

Mentoring Program

An innovative new program that trains 9th through 12th graders to teach Hebrew and Culture to younger students in need of additional educational support, the Mentoring Program is an exciting opportunity for young people to obtain real leadership and teaching skills, while offering a vital community service.
