History

Jewish Family Congregation (JFC) was established in 1981 by families in South Salem and neighboring towns who wanted to

create a Reform congregation where Judaism would be more than practiced, it would be celebrated. The congregation met and conducted services at the South Salem Presbyterian Church on Main Street until it purchased its own home in1994. The thriving congregation relocated to an old estate on Smith Ridge Road with a mansion it refurbished and transformed into the synagogue it is today.

Jewish Family Congregation has grown to include individuals from adjacent communities in northern Westchester County, NY, and southern Fairfield County, CT. Today JFC offers extensive opportunities to learn, socialize, worship, observe holy days and lifecycle events, and participate in a variety of social action programs.
